Crushing it

/// The all new movie starring Jin-Quan Yu & Phil Baran features a product to protect chemists when they are most vulnerable.

Phil S. Baran is an organic chemist recreating pharmacologically interesting compound isolated from natural sources de novo in the laboratory through an experimental methodology known as "total synthesis." Baran's research is not only enhancing our ability to make fundamental structures for a broad range of medicines and materials, but is also strengthening the intellectual foundations of organic chemistry. He was a postdoctoral associate (2001-2003) at Nobel Laureate E.J. Corey's laboratory at Harvard University before joining the faculty of Scripps Research Institute, where he is the Darlene Shiley Professor of Chemistry (source:

Jin-Quan Yu is a synthetic chemist pioneering new techniques for the functionalization of carbon-hydrogen (C-H) bonds. Yu's unconventional approach to C-H functionalization is creating a paradigm shift in the logic of organic synthetic chemistry and breaking down barriers to the development of versatile compounds with enormous benefits to academic, industrial and pharmaceutical research. He was research fellow (1998-2002) and junior faculty member (2003-2004) at the University of Cambridge, postdoctoral fellow (2001 - 2002) at Harvard University and assistant professor chemistry (2004 - 2007) at Brandeis University prior to his current affiliation with Scripps Research Institute, where he is the Frank and Bertha Hupp Professor of Chemistry (source:

IKA laboratory technology offers a wide range of innovative equipment for numerous applications in research and development. Market leaders trust in our proven technology for their mixing, heating, distilling and crushing applications. IKA has gained a leading position in the world market with its innovative magnetic stirrers, mixers, overhead stirrers, shakers, homogenizers, mills, rotary evaporators, calorimeters, laboratory reactors and specially developed software for laboratory and analysis applications, as well as temperature control products such as circulators, baths and chillers.
Top researchers and scientists work with our laboratory equipment. Their research is creating solutions and processes that change our future. After all, substances in all aggregation states under lab conditions and in production facilities are turned into innovative products. Mixed or crushed, tempered or distilled, as part of new compounds or reproducible results: From anti-aging crème to cement, as a tissue sample or groundbreaking development, in the µ area or on an industrial scale.

IKA not only ensures the highest level of precision, safety and quality of the results, but also proves by means of its innovative designs that a lab does not have to be boring and that it is possible for innovation to be visible and touchable.

Laboratory and analytical devices boasting modern designs are engineered at the company’s headquarters in Staufen, Germany and assembled for each region at the respective IKA subsidiary.
